SENOHERS and Gresgying Partner to Scale Methanol-Reforming Fuel Cell Power Systems
2026.10.19SENOHERS has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Gresgying Digital Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (SSE: 600212). The partnership will focus on methanol-reforming hydrogen fuel cell power systems and accelerate their deployment across a range of commercial energy applications.
Methanol-reforming fuel cell systems combine on-site hydrogen production with efficient power generation. Methanol is relatively easy to store and transport, while high-temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cells can generate both electricity and usable heat. These characteristics make the technology suitable for distributed power, off-grid electricity supply, backup power and combined heat and power applications.
SENOHERS will contribute its expertise in methanol reforming, high-temperature proton exchange membranes and fuel cell power generation. Its product portfolio covers methanol hydrogen production equipment, membrane electrode assemblies, HT-PEMFC stacks, integrated power generation systems, combined heat and power systems, and testing platforms.
Gresgying brings experience in EV charging, energy storage, microgrids and digital energy management. The company also has project implementation and site-operation capabilities across charging stations, storage-based microgrids, data-centre backup power and integrated energy stations.
By combining SENOHERS’ core technologies with Gresgying’s system integration and deployment capabilities, the partnership aims to address key challenges in system integration, project delivery and site-specific energy configuration.
The two companies will initially focus on hydrogen-supported ultra-fast charging stations, energy storage microgrids and data-centre backup power. They will jointly advance equipment development, system integration, demonstration projects and the replication of proven solutions across multiple sites.
China’s hydrogen industry is moving towards broader, multi-scenario deployment. In March 2026, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Finance, and National Development and Reform Commission launched a national pilot programme for integrated hydrogen applications, with an emphasis on reducing costs through deployment at scale.
Against this background, the partnership represents an important step in moving methanol-reforming fuel cell systems from technical demonstration towards repeatable, commercial-scale applications.
